Lasting memories

In your own words...

We absolutely loved staying here! Everything was perfect from the views to the service to the rooms. Maria was more than helpful to accommodate our every need from the moment we arrived. We switched rooms after 2 night and everything was moved for us with ease. Yannis' meal was delightful and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal watching the sunset. Definitely worth it and such a memorable experience. The rooms were wonderful and both rooms we stayed in had incredible views (Vacilicos and King Cat). Having breakfast on our porch each morning was our favorite part. It was quiet, peaceful, and within perfect walking distance of Imerovigli and Thira for restaurants/shopping. The hotel staff was helpful with setting up everything we needed. They were kind, happy, and helpful and made our stay fabulous. We would DEFINITELY recommend this hotel to anyone.

We stayed in the Vasilicos and we were more than happy with everything..Definitely the place we would like to stay again and recommend to all our friends.. Excellent service, spacious rooms, amazing view, very close to the center and the most incredible food in the island..the people were more than friendly and very experienced for giving us advices for which places to visit...First time in the island but definitely not the last..and next time will be only in "The Vasilicos"..

Our family stayed here for 3 nights this summer . The view is beyond belief. The service and rooms were equally superb. We were served an incredible breakfast on our private patio with a stunning view each morning. This hotel stay will be hard to top!

We recently stayed at The Vasilicos for 3 nights and have nothing but positive things to say. Our unit (Vasilkos) was fantastic in every way - spacious, clean, good water pressure and temperature, etc. The views from this hotel are fantastic and would be hard pressed to find anything better. From the minute we arrived, Maria and the staff made us feel like we were at home, above and beyond any experience we have ever had. This level of customer service from Maria was exemplary and really did add to our enjoyment in Santorini. The location of the hotel was ideal for us - about a 20 minute walk to Fira Town and short ride to Oia. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

Our stay at this hotel (3rd week in September 2015) was about as perfect as it gets. Magnificent views of the caldera, great breakfast overlooking amazing views, great people (Maria and Joanna), tastefully decorated big rooms.  We booked the car service through the hotel which was inexpensive (approx.22 euros, one way). And as soon as we arrived Maria and her great smile and upbeat persona greeted us at soon as we got out of the car. She promptly asked us if we required anything and showed us to our room. You also get to us a complimentary tablet during your stay. The wi-fi data speed is very quick for hotel standards and is consistent throughout the hotel including by the pool. Every hotel room faces and has a direct view to the caldera. So no need to go to Oia to see the sunset, you can see it while swimming in the pool, while having drinks on your private patio or from your private hot tub!!!! The breakfast was included in our rate. And its easily one of the best breakfast I have experienced. This amazing breakfast is set on your private patio, at whatever time you choose. Make no mistake it is not some cheesy American continental breakfast or worst a buffet breakfast, and I'm American!!! Joanna is all smiles and is the delightful person who brings the breakfast every morning and the delicious midday ice cream snack. Breakfast is refreshingly delicious (seasonal fruit, Traditional Greek yogurt, freshly baked bread/croissants, coffee, freshly squeezed orange, Greek salad, cheese plate). OMG I am making my self hungry just describing it!!!! Amazing breakfast+ amazing views = Perfect start to any day.

We loved staying at the Vasilicos. This converted villa provides an intimate experience, with only eight or nine rooms in total, with perhaps the most spectacular views on the island, from a perfect vantage point, right in the middle of the rim of the caldera, within easy walking distance of a couple of the major towns, and within a healthy hike of Oia and other outlying points. It is also located adjacent to a monastery and is thus quiet and peaceful compared to many of the alternative hotels. Our room was a beautiful suite carved into the volcanic rock -- cool and quiet, with a large pool right off our private terrace, where a delicious breakfast was personally served every morning, at a time of our choosing. The staff, headed by Maria, the concierge, was terrific in every way -- helpful, personable, caring and attentive, but not at all obtrusive. This is the perfect couples get-away imaginable -- the views are not to be believed.

I'll TRY to be quick:  Cons:  Very difficult to think of one Reception desk is limited to certain hours (but you'll hardly need it) they're so accommodating to every request.  Pros:  Renovated modern suites (huge) feels like a spa View is to die for (tourist take pictures behind the hotel the gate - yep it's that worth it) Separate rain shower room with seating area in Daphne's suite Turn down service has complimentary cocktails EVERY night Pool time includes surprise ice cream treats Daphne the owner is an amazing host The grounds/rooms are pristine - reminds me of the Greek version of the Four Seasons (avid guest)  Maria at reception booked our reservations, gave us comp cocktails, booked our car (sure just leave it at the airport even if there is no desk there ... We'll send someone to look for it & pick up the car after you're done) she also recommended Eros Beach (amazing black sand secluded beach) Tailor made service every second Delicious breakfast every morning I even found a traveling book from book  Designated hotel parking lot  4 min walk to all the trendy restaurants in Imerovigly 20 min walk to Thira (Fira) Pool area is secluded (only 7 massive suites at the hotel) so you'll prob have it to yourself for most of the stay, and it's warm at night Candles everywhere  Great light in the rooms I can keep going, but that would defeat a short review.

We stayed on The Vasilicos pergola room. It has a very beautiful hot tub on the edge on the cliff with an incredible view. The room is very big, confortable and you will find a a bathroom with a lot of thought. They pay attention to details and you will notice it even before you arrive (if they have a way to contact you).  Maria, the concierge, is very helpful and keeps track of everything. They are 100% committed to make you enjoy the most your stay. Finally, the CHEF. At first I was sceptical (food at hotels are not usually the best) but since we check in late, we had lunch at our terrace. What a surprise! after 3 days on the island, the Vasilicos CHEF was our favorite. The breakfast is also very good.

I don't even know where to start. Well, maybe I should start by saying that the pictures you see from previous reviews and from the Hotel Management are in fact quite accurate; however do not even come close to doing the view and property architecture any justice. Forget having to go to Oia, the location and height of the hotel (one of the highest points on the cliff) give you one of the clearest and stunning view of the Caldera and the sunset. A 3 minute walk to the main city of Fira yet still so remote and so quiet! You get the best of both worlds. The process from booking this hotel from start to finish was the easiest I've ever experienced. Maria is very inviting and helpful and made our stay incredible. From speaking to her over email making sure we have everything for our stay to meeting her at the front steps when we first arrived, we could tell that this was going to be our favourite spot (after touring Athens and Mykonos prior).  You are handed fresh homemade lemonade from the rest of the helpful staff. Big thanks to Dimitris & Joanna for everything from bringing our food and breakfast over to creating incredibly delicious cocktails (Note: You have to order one of each! They're really good). We are especially thankful that you guys were receptive to having conversations with us! Made us feel like part of the family! The hotel room we had was the Pergola. This room was the first room you walk down to immediately from the front gate. It has a private jacuzzi and an amazing view. Steps away from the main pool. The room has a huge king bed, a walk in closet and a seating area! The bathroom is really spacious too. No complaints here! Slept like a baby! The food is top-notch! Yannis with the help of his Mother made us incredible dishes. Whether they were on the set menu or if it was just a concoction of Yannis' creativity. Either way, it was delicious. We had a Sunset dinner set up and Yannis came down to ask us what type of food we like and gave us an idea of what we were to expect for dinner. I found this very helpful and very unusual, because not one single hotel I've stayed at does this! The entire staff was at your beck and call and made our stay the best we've ever experienced. However, they didn't feel like staff. You felt like apart of the family as I mentioned. Made you really feel like you were at home. This HOTEL is a MUST stay! P.S: We really appreciate the team letting us hang out at the hotel after checkout, before our late night flight (with use of amenities: pool / shower etc). That was the cherry on top.  Can't wait to come back!!

We loved our stay at the Vasilicos! The hotel is a former house that has been turned into a luxury boutique hotel perched on the edge of a cliff. Each room is a unique Cycladian experience, with its own terrace and personality. (I know because my family occupied 4 of the 7 rooms during our stay.) The views over the Caldera are breathtaking. Each morning breakfast was served on our terraces. The beds are comfortable, the rooms are spacious, the bathrooms are fun. The hotel is invisible from the street (a passerby sees only an access gate above the hotel), yet it is adjacent to the pedestrian walkway that connects Imerovigli and Fira. There are a lot of bars, restaurants and stores along the walkway, but the walkway near the Vasilicos is quiet so you enjoy access and privacy and quiet at the same time - a rare combination on Santorini. Service and staff were friendly and helpful. Every afternoon a staff member appeared at just the right time (after a long car ride, or while we were in the pool) with ice cream cones. We ran out of things to do on Santorini, but no one in the family wanted to leave the Vasilicos. One note: you will never find it on your own so arrange for transportation to the hotel when you arrive on Santorini.

This place was stunning. We loved it immensely. I had some of the best nights of sleep in the cavelike rooms with comfy bed and choice of what kind of pillows you like. And we had a whole room just for the shower!! That was amazing. Very well located and they helped us with everything we needed. Maria was so kind, as well as all the staff.  I agree that the place is new and so will probably benefit from some more experience in terms of very small things (like when to clean the rooms and timing of getting items during breakfast- probably people want coffee before the end of the meal), but that didn't really affect the overall experience and made it actually feel a little more homey and charming in a way.  Santorini is a bit of a circus (at least in high season), but we were able to experience its magic and take in its beauty in a serene, gorgeous and warm setting thanks to The Vasilicos.

We have stayed at this fantastic all suite hotel - very few suites, I think 8-9 - during the first week of August 2015, one of the busiest of the year for Greece, and we did not regret it! We had the most wonderful time there, not only because of the AMAZING views of the volcano across the deep blue sea, the huge - by local standards - swimming pool, and the unbelievable "hyposcaphon" (dug into the earth) suite that we had (Daphne's suite), but also - and mainly - because of the truly warm and genuinely friendly people that work here!  Freshly prepared breakfast is served daily in your suite, with the warmest smile and whenever is most suitable for you. No request is impossible, and they will do their best to fulfil your every wish! We had a few dinners here as well, and they are really tasty! Well done to Yiannis and his mum! One important point is that it is TRULY quiet, serene, tranquil! Quite the opposite from Oia! So to sum it all up, if you would like to stay at this fantastic island, and you prefer a quiet spot, THIS IS IT!! Go for it!

After the chaos of the ferry from Mykonos, we stepped onto the pier searching frantically for a sign for our hotel and there standing away from the madness was Yanis from The Vasilicos. This was the start of a magical four day stay!! Maria, Ana, Dimitri, Yanis the chef and Yanis the driver went out of their way every day to make our stay the best that it could be, from organizing our catamaran cruise, reserving us tables at the local restaurants, complimentary tasters of calamari, a complimentary mini ice-cream and always with a friendly smile and genuine concern for our well-being. The rooms are modern and spacious with ample space for you to feel at home. There is attention to detail and an understanding of the modern client so a tablet in the room and DVDs on a USB. The views from all areas of the hotel are spectacular and we lived being able to enjoy the view from our own pool with a cocktail in hand. A must for those looking for a good rest and brilliant spoil!!!

This is a new resort and so we were a little hesitant to stay here. But it was an amazing experience. The rooms, the view, and the service were all impeccable. The room was spacious, with a large bed, couch, table and chairs, dresser, etc (even a tablet) and plenty of space I between. The shower was the best part of the bathroom, very spacious with seating on the sides and great water pressure.  The balcony was almost as large as the room with a jacuzzi, table for breakfast, sun beds and a seated area.  It had a great view of the caldera and You could see Oia on one side and Fira on another. It was a tough view to beat. It seemed to be the go to place for sunset because other people would come watch up at the gates.  Maria and the staff were extremely obliging. We felt like we were the only people there. Maria set everything up for us when we asked. Even when it was last minute. Breakfast ends at 11 but when we slept in they still served it to us no fuss. There was plenty of food and they will make you whatever else you like. And their freshly squeeze orange juice and homemade younger were superb. As attentive as they were they never disturbed us. If they wanted to come down to serve us breakfast they would call to make sure we were okay to be disturbed.  Overall it was a great experience. To be honest we had the hardest time leaving the resort. If I ever came back to Santorini I would definitely stay here again.

We took a chance on this hotel as when we booked there also were no reviews. I agree with all of the comments in the two positive reviews - Maria took care of every little detail before we arrived and when we were there. Unlike the review from MDR04, we had great service at all times and no request was too little or big. Our visit started with being able to get into the rooms early. We then were treated to delicious lemonade (really limeade) and fruit. On the day before we left, they came around with mini-ice cream provided by the owner. Make sure to try the lemonade and a meal prepared by the chef Yannis. As noted, Maria took care of every detail and we also had spectacular help from Demetrios and Joanna. Yannis is adorable and his creations are delicious. We stayed in Daphne's and Vasaltis right by the pool and loved them both. See our room tips below.

A 7 room hotel that begins with Maria calling and planning everything and everything was perfect. Car pickups, recommended restaurants, cruises, visits to museums, breakfast of your choice served on your private patio overlooking the Caldera, views that are on postcards, pool, private Jacuzzi, and on ithe goes. The hotel website understates how good it is. The walk is an enjoyable 300 feet up the Caldear along the footpath. The villa is large and of incredible quality. It was originally built as a high end private villa and later converted to a hotel. It is quiet, beautiful and a once in a lifetime visit. In addition to Maria two people are assigned to ensure services are impecable. I have stayed at fine hotels throughout Europe and North America and never expected the best service and experience to be in Greece. Bravo and we'll done.

LOCATION: The hotel is ideally nestled in Imerovigli between Fira and Oia. A quiet location for enjoying the stunning views of the Caldera, famed sunsets or just relaxing by the pool. The 10 min walk on the Caldera path to Fira lets you experience the vibrant town while staying away from the crowd / noise during the evening if you want peace and quiet. The hotel hosts picturesque, unobstructed views of the Caldera (it is at the front edge of the mountain) HOTEL / ACCOMODATION: There are 5-6 rooms in the entire villa which are constructed as caves in the hill side. As it is a new place the rooms are beautifully decorated with high end fixtures and the necessary items. They really pay attention to detail.  The hotel grounds are large for a place in Santorini yet very intimate with only 6 rooms on the property. There is a pool overlooking the Caldera where you can lay and relax during the day. Stunning!!! FOOD: While Santorini is host to some top notch restaurants, The Vasilicos is no slouch when it comes to dining. A delicious breakfast (included) is served at your room every morning at your preferred time. You have the option of dining in for lunch and dinner which I highly recommend. Unique delicious dishes are prepared to your liking whether you prefer something casual or more exquisite. SERVICE: Absolutely spectacular service from Makis (owner / manager), Maria (concierge), and hotel staff Joanna and Demtris. They truly made sure everything was perfect.  Overall, we highly recommend this hotel villa and hope you enjoy it as much as we have!

I love this house! I think it is so cool! The view is so cool, every morning I looked at the ships with my dad. I am so sad to leave.

Words cannot explain what an absolutely incredible stay we had at your lovely home. The vies and sunsets will provide wonderful lasting memories. While the home and surroundings were beyond our expectations, it was the warm and attentive greeting that we received from Makis that truly set this holiday apart. Our family came from London, Canada and the US to celebrate [a number of special family occasions]. I cannot think of a better place to have been. Thank you for a very special seven days.

On the first night the winds howled in the Caldera like crazed sirens – and then, by dawn, perfect peace. Thanks Daphne – what paradise you have created here.

Dearest Daphne, in here, in your house, we could feel amazing – it is definitely one of the most beautiful and comfortable places ever. Congratulations for you, your staff, good taste and harmony. And Makis, you are the best, really! Thank you for everything! Our house in Brazil is yours.

A week on a boat sailing around the islands and then a week of relaxing on Santorini. The way to have a great relaxing holiday and away from the London fun and games. It was special and we were very well looked after by Makis, and a big thank you - fantastic to have continual [ ] and such great service. My two sons, 13 and 11, will always remember their first Greek holiday and no doubt they will return one day. Best wishes, and thank you for taking all the stress away – plus the yoga and the Pilates on the deck. Looking at the cruise ships will stay firmly in my mind when back in the gym in England!

The sea, the Caldera, the selene and the wind brought peace and contentment. Makis is a generous host, and Nikos is a marvellous chef. The sunsets – this must be paradise

It is said that you never leave special places. A part of me remains here. Until the time we return…

We had a fabulous week at this lovely villa with Makis as the perfect host and Nikos providing wonderful meals. We were very comfortable in the house, and enjoyed each terrace during the course of the day. We are already planning our next visit! Thank you for making your home available.
E. & R.A. Texas, 2011
The experience at this place can be stunning with the first sight, but it captures only after – with the hospitality of Makis, spirit and coziness created by Daphne, energy of the volcano in front, love and creativity put in food by Nikos, elegance and subtlety of Oia, friendly care of Antonis, and his daughter Arianna. It is a family which will welcome anyone from outside Greece and make you feel at home. This is an art towards which many hospitality gurus strive for. It was perfectly and beautifully accomplished here for our group in June 2011. Thank you all, it truly was unforgettable.
J.B. Las Vegas, 2011
Thank you so much for everything! We have travelled the world, but this place holds a special place – like nothing we have experienced! We hope to be back!
